Dirt Track Bank is banking on the high banks. Even without bricks and mortar, our online bank is for the racer, the fan, the curious or anyone who wants to be a part of something cool.

Jay Burdic, President of Malvern Bank, has developed an online bank to support his passion for dirt track racing and to give everyone associated with the world of dirt track racing a bank they can call their own.

FAQ

Why dirt track racing?

The Burdic family has been involved with dirt track racing since the 1970s.

Jay remembers spending his summer weekends in Harlan, Corning, Denison and Omaha, selling tires out of the back of a brown Dodge van because his father, Allan Burdic, was a regional distributor for McCreary racing tires.

But it wasn’t until his dad became involved on the car ownership side with driver Steve Kosiski that Jay’s real passion for the sport started to take shape. Originally a NASCAR fanatic, Jay came to realize that dirt track racing wasn’t just a hobby, but a way of life for so many people

It was also a way for the family bank to grow beyond the borders of small-town Iowa.

Jay’s first year of driving a late model was in 2000, which was also Sunset Speedway’s final season. He drove until 2009 and then took a 10-year break to focus on the bank and help raise two kids. He resumed the driving phase of his racing life during the summer of 2019 and has fallen in love with it all over again.

How did Dirt Track Bank start?

Starting in 1892 and continuing today, Malvern Bank, a family-owned community bank, has built community — not only for the city of Malvern and southwestern Iowa, but also for the dirt track racing. Malvern Bank has sponsored a wide range of dirt track races and race cars, making Malvern Bank a go-to destination for financial information about dirt track racing.

But Jay wanted more for the dirt track racing community. In order to grow Malvern Bank, he aspired to build a unique online bank branch that assists and promotes dirt track racing.

Checkered flag alert: Malvern Bank and Dirt Track Bank trade paint. On December 12, 2019, Dirt Track Bank, a division of Malvern Bank, is launched at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Indianapolis.

Why do we continue to support dirt track racing?

We support dirt track racing because dirt track racing supports us. The growth of Malvern Bank over the past seven years is due to the fans, drivers and car owners taking time out of their busy lives to switch their banking relationship to us. This allows us to turn around and give back to the sport that gives so much to us.

“It’s the friendships, the family atmosphere, the smell, the sound, the cool-looking cars and of course the dirt,” says Jay Burdic.
